When word came that Osama bin Laden had finally been dealt with, I cheered like everyone else, but then I paused and sighed. I knew that Barack Obama had found his golden egg to raise his numbers and jump start his re-election campaign. This is not unlike when Reagan took credit for the Iranian hostage situation.
It infuriates me that one man who lucked out at being in the Oval Office chair when years of work finally paid off is going to use this for personal gain and to try and make people forget his less shining moments.
The hunt for bin Laden has been going on for multiple administrations and just like the hunt for criminals on the FBI’s most wanted list, had groundwork to be laid and trails to be followed. I applaud all the hard working people in all of those administrations — whether I supported them or not — for continuing to pursue this creature and for keeping those who followed them as they left office informed as to what they had learned.
When you start to look for a candidate in the next presidential election, remember all this president has done or not done and not just that bin Laden died while he was in office.
