I agree with your editorial Feb. 18, "We have greater needs than state-funded preschools." I was under the impression Illinois was running a budget deficit? Yet in the State of the State address the governor proposed preschool for 3- and 4-year-old children, along with the re-opening of the Lincoln Development Center and last ,but not least, an additional eight state-funded - Democratic/lifers - employees for a trap-shooting facility. How about paying off the vendors the state owes money to first. I have a proposal for the governor that's free, "to be taken seriously have a funding proposal complete when you make promises." Where's the money coming from? The governor's state-paid audience applauds enthusiastically, however the people of Illinois know it's more of the same trap (shoot).
