If one looks deep enough, there is probably one or more veterans in every family. This weekend is an appropriate time to pay tribute to them. Memorial Day is a time to stop for a moment to thank those veterans who gave their lives for this country.
While this day has been set aside for them, most of us also pay tribute to all deceased veterans. Flags are placed on the graves and ceremonies are attended.
This is a time to honor our living veterans as well. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 454 and Auxiliary will be sponsoring another "Poppy Day" on Saturday. Members will be at local stores and the farmer's market offering poppies for you to wear proudly to show your support of our veterans. All proceeds from donations received are used to assist local veterans as well as those who are in VA facilities around the state.

Since 2017 is the 100th anniversary when American troops became involved in WWI, what better time show your support for those who left their homeland to fight for the sake of liberty, many of whom are buried in Flanders Field where poppies grow.
By displaying your poppy you are showing you are grateful you live in a free country and are thankful there are those who have kept it so.
