CARLOCK - Rare silver coins, guns, jewelry and electronics - plus a rare gold Catholic medal - were stolen from a residence northwest of Carlock, McLean County sheriff's police said.

A door was forced open in a daytime burglary Monday, police said.

Among the items stolen were 42-inch and 52-inch televisions, a one-carat diamond ring, a silver necklace and a jar of change. Also stolen were 100 rare coins kept in a safe.

Guns stolen were a .22 caliber handgun with red dot scope, a 1940 Colt .38 caliber handgun, a .22 caliber semiautomatic rifle, and Remington and Winchester 12-gauge shotguns.

A flat-screen TV also was stolen from a camper. A garbage can was also stolen.

The stolen medal depicted St. Nicholas, who in addition to being the inspiration for Santa Claus is the patron saint of repentant thieves.
