PONTIAC - A Pontiac man was acquitted of rape charges by a Livingston County jury.
It took a jury less than three hours of deliberation to find Matthew Gourley, 29, innocent on two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual assault.
The verdict was read following a two-day trial that ended Tuesday, according to court records.
Prosecutors claimed Gourley had sex with a woman in Livingston County on June 11 or 12, 2005, without her consent, by using force and causing her bodily harm. The charges against Gourley were filed in 2006.
