BLOOMINGTON - A 33-year-old man was in jail Monday on charges he and another man indicated their BB gun was a pistol and robbed five people Saturday night in downtown Bloomington.

Andre Woods, of Chicago, was held in lieu of $25,000 on charges of armed robbery, aggravated robbery, resisting police and obstructing justice.

A court file indicates Woods ran from police, and Officer Justin Shively suffered abrasions to his knees and elbow during the chase. The file also says Woods gave a false name to officers.

Police said Woods and a second man robbed four women and a man as they walked in the 100 block of West Jefferson Street. The two men fled east along Jefferson with the group's purses and wallets, police said.

Woods was arrested near a parking lot south of the 300 block of North East Street.
