PEKIN — A former coach at Washington Community High School was sentenced to 90 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to criminal sexual abuse.
Hayley M. Reneau, 23, made her misdemeanor plea Dec. 20 in Tazewell County Circuit Court. The crime for which Reneau was convicted states the perpetrator is less than five years older than the victim, according to court records.
Reneau's jail term was to begin Jan. 2. She also is to perform community service and to be on probation until December 2021.

According to the Illinois State Police, Reneau has been registered as a sex offender.
Reneau was arrested last August. Her victim was between 13 and 17 years of age, according to the Washington Police Department.
Until she resigned in July, Reneau had been a freshman volleyball and girls basketball coach at Washington. She had played basketball there as a student and was a three-time all-Mid-Illini Conference selection.
Reneau also played basketball at Illinois Central College and at Eureka College, from which she graduated in 2018.
