GALESBURG -- Two coroners in west-central Illinois say they hope to save lives by launching a new effort to fight underage drinking.
Coroners in Knox and Warren counties plan to show images of the of DUI fatalities to young juveniles in and out of the court system. That includes pictures of car wreckage.
An Illinois law allows judges to sentence juveniles who've been drinking to classes with coroners as part of their punishment.
Monmouth attorney Steve Glasgow who's worked on the idea tells The (Galesburg) Register-Mail that it's an eye-opener to see the images. He hopes it helps juveniles understand the consequences of their actions.
