BLOOMINGTON - A coroner's jury ruled as accidental a 26-year-old woman's death in a traffic crash in early December.
Amber Manus of Lincoln was pronounced dead about 6:40 a.m. Dec. 7 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, about 45 minutes after her car rear-ended a large truck on Veterans Parkway at the Morrissey Drive intersection, said Coroner Beth Kimmerling. Her car and the truck were on the section of Veterans that heads east before turning north.
Kimmerling said Manus died of blunt neck, chest and abdominal trauma. She said an accident reconstruction specialist testified in a hearing Thursday morning that Manus' car was traveling at least 49 mph when it struck the back of the truck, which was stopped at a red light.
Manus' car was in good working order before the accident, traffic lights at the intersection were working and toxicology tests indicated no presence of alcohol or drugs, Kimmerling said.
