BLOOMINGTON — Ben W. Boyd Sr., 91 of Bloomington, passed away at 10:02 a.m. Friday (Sept. 6, 2019) at his residence.
There will be no service or visitation. The family request no flowers. Memorials can be made to the Baby Fold.
Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Ben was born Sept. 16, 1927 in Weatherford, Okla., the son of Dr. Thomas Alford and Alta Fry Boyd. He married Sue Donna Barton on March 25, 1949 in Weatherford, Okla. She survives.
Also surviving are his four children, Thomas Alford (Lori) Boyd III, Phoenix, Ariz., Rebecca Jan Brittin, Bloomington, Benjamin W. Boyd, Jr., Bloomington, and Paul Barton Boyd, Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Justin (Lisa) Boyd, San Antonio, Tex., Andrea (Andrew) Cart, Knoxville, Tenn., Heather (Michael) Surma, Milwaukee, Wis., Jill (Michael) Roberts, Leander, Tex., Angie Boyd, Leander, Tex., Andrew (Elyssa) Boyd, Charlotte, N.C., and Michael Boyd, Leander, Tex.; 11 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Ben graduated from Tulane University. He was a member of Centennial Christian Church, Bloomington, where he had served as treasurer. Ben was a member the Young Men's Club and Golden K Kiwanis. He was the former Director of Environmental Health at the McLean County Health Department from 1966 to 1977 and later served as the Director of McLean County Health Department from 1977 to 1990. He enjoyed music, art, painting, woodworking and fishing.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
