One of Betty’s greatest accomplishments was being a successful business owner in Bloomington-Normal for 33 years. Betty and Gene opened their produce market in 1981. The market started as an open-air 30- by 60-foot pole building. It was expanded several times over the years. In 1989, they built a new building on Springfield Road. It was designed for flowers and produce. She was the face of the business as she checked everyone out. Jackson’s has been around for 37 years because of Betty’s determination and hard work
