BLOOMINGTON — Carol A. Bowen, Bloomington, Ill., died Thursday (March 14, 2019) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, Ill.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Ill., with the Rev. Peter Weeks officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington, Ill.
A private graveside service will be at Forrest Cemetery in Forrest, Ill.
Carol was born Oct. 26, 1939, in Chatsworth, Ill. She was the daughter of Leonard Hoeger and Kathryn Flessner Hoeger. She married George Bowen on Aug. 25, 1961, in Fairbury, Ill.
Surviving are her husband, George, Bloomington, Ill.; and their two daughters, Debby (Don) Henkel, Shirley, Ill., and Kathy Bowen, Bloomington, Ill.; three beloved nephews and their families, Eric (Joni) Sloter, Bentonville, Ark.; John (Brenda) Sloter, Boone, Iowa; and Mark (Tina) Deany, Richmond Heights, Mo. She also leaves many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Deany, who also passed away on March 14, 2019.
Carol grew up a farm girl who was a bookkeeper most of her life. She enjoyed her faith, family, friends, a good laugh and her dogs. She liked to collect antique glassware, garden, read and be with family and friends. She was proud of her Ostfriesland German heritage and enjoyed genealogy with her family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at McLean County Nursing Home for taking care of her. Their care and love will be missed.
