BLOOMINGTON — Charles William “Sonny” Boyd, 76, of Bloomington, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Aug. 11, 2019) in his home.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army, 611 W. Washington St., Bloomington.
Charles was born on July 2, 1943, at the family home in Saybrook, son of Ed and Dorothy Boyd. Sonny married Marilyn Sanders in 1962 and celebrated 57 beautiful years together in marriage.
He was survived by his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Charles (JoAnna) Boyd; Daniel (Lisa) Boyd; and Robert Boyd, at home; and one daughter, Jennifer (Noel) Valade. There were 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Sonny worked for West Construction from 1969 as a laborer of Local 362 until 1973 and then he joined the Cement Finishers Union. Sonny worked as a cement finisher until his retirement in 2009. He was a 46-year member of the Cement Finishers Union.
Go rest in heaven, Sonny … you worked plenty hard on this earth. Your work on earth is over — well done, good and faithful servant.
