David C. Schulz, 90, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday (June 12, 2018) at his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Bloomington, the son of Otto and Mildred Denison Schulz. He married Shirley Woith on Jan. 23, 1949, in Bloomington. She survives.
David was a longtime meat cutter for Kroger, retiring in 1993. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. David loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, including Debbie (Jim) Ekstam, Greenville, Ky.; Dixie Schulz, Bloomington; Darlene (Jerry) Pratt, Normal; and Kim Erickson, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Stacey Erickson, Towanda; Andrew (Serena) Erickson, Normal; Scott (Kelsey) Pratt, Bloomington; and Sara Pratt, Normal; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Bill (Betty) Schulz, Bloomington; Richard (Dorothy) Schulz, Normal; and Edward Schulz, Colorado; and a sister, Sarah Smith, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice.
