BLOOMINGTON — David Whitfield, 65, of Bloomington, was called home Aug. 16, 2019, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
David was born Jan. 1, 1954, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Margaret Whitfield and David Tucker. He was employed by the United States Postal Service.
In 1974, David joined the Marines Corps and served in various parts of the United States and Japan. It was also during this time that he met and dated Venus Fowler. The two grew apart only to reunite in later years.

He leaves not to mourn, but to cherish his memory, his wife, Venus Whitfield; mother, Margaret Julian; brother, Rodney Whitfield; brothers-in-law, Joel Fowler (DeeDee) and Edward Fowler; sons, David Maurice (Angelica), Winston and William; daughters, Myeoniakita (KeKe) and Amanda; grandchildren, Edward, Briana, Rasheed, DJ, Katelyn, Anthony, Summer and Amiyah; nieces, LaToya and LaTonya; nephew, Rodney; great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services celebrating his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 801 W. Market St., Bloomington, with visitation one hour before service.
