Gary M. Davis Jr., 54, of Bloomington, passed away 12:53 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 10, 2019) at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Sidney, Neb.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with a service immediately following at noon. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for the education fund of Gary’s grandchildren.
Gary was born July 20, 1964, in Bloomington, the son of Gary M. and Ruth Ann Griffard Davis.
Survivors include his partner, Margaret Davis; two children, Joshua Goujon-Davis and Whitney Goujon-Davis; two grandchildren, Jairdan Prince and Kingston Marlow (and a baby girl on the way), all of Bloomington; his parents, Gary M. and Ruth Davis Sr., Havana; four siblings, Tim (Debbie) Davis, Shelly (Greg) Cave, Lisa (Donald) Johnson and Tom (Michelle) Davis, all of Bloomington; nieces and nephews, TJ Davis, Jeni Cave, Jessica (Eric) Murphy, Alex Johnson, Trey Johnson, Paige Davis and Hailey Davis; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and a niece, Miranda Johnson.
Gary graduated from University High School in 1982, where he was a star athlete in football, wrestling, and track. He worked as an owner-operator for 35-plus years for numerous companies, moving furniture; lastly working for Domino Transport, which he felt was like a family to him.
Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed watching all sports, but especially the Chicago Bears.
Gary had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He had a great work ethic and loved his job on the road with all the adventures he had as well as the people he met. More than anything, he loved his family and friends who will miss his contagious laugh, smile, generosity, and good-hearted nature. May you ride high in the sky.
