James L. "JJ" Jamison, 61, of Elliott, formerly of Chatsworth, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 6, 2018) at home surrounded by his loving family.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Gibson City Bible Church, Gibson City, with Pastor Paul Thomason officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Elliott Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Carle Hospice Program. Rosenbaum Funeral Home, Gibson City, is handling arrangements.
JJ was born on April 23, 1957, in Harrisburg, Pa., a son of James L. and Alta Smith Jamison Jr. He married Shirley Turner on April 24, 1976, in Pennsylvania. He later married Debbie Lockwood on July 2, 1992, in Newark, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie Jamison, Elliott; his children, Shelly Jamison, California; Melissa (Shawn Holmes) Bonnivier, Pontiac; Angela (Tony) Carter-Slager, Waterloo, Wis.; Trisha (Sam) Carter-Wright, Harriman, Tenn.; and Jay (Kari) Carter, Weldon; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
JJ was a forklift driver at Homeshield in Chatsworth for 30 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Tony Stewart. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, tinkering in the garage and was always willing to help anyone in need. JJ especially enjoyed being around his family and friends.
