BLOOMINGTON — John J. Holtz, 93, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:39 a.m. Monday (Dec. 2, 2019) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
His Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Father Geoff Horton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church.
John was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Bloomington, a son to Frank L. and Marie Antkowiak Holtz. He married Mary Jean Warren on Nov. 9, 1957, in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2018.

Surviving are his siblings, Irene (William) Rielly, Oakland, Calif.; Raymond Holtz, Bloomington; and Patricia (James) Bookout, Bloomington; and sister-in-law, Rena Holtz, Addison.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Tony; parents; and brothers, Ralph, Paul and Richard. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Cole and Agnes Schnupp.
John served his country in the Merchant Marines and later worked for a long time with dedicated service to the city of Bloomington in the water department.
He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. John was also a member of the McLean County Genealogy Society, IAM Union Lodge 1000 and AARP. He always enjoyed sports, traveling, reading, and learning more about his family history.
