RUSHFORD, Minn. — Joyce L. Lee, 87, of Rushford, Minn., and formerly of Farmer City, passed away to be with her heavenly Father on April 28, 2019) at Winona Health Services, Rushford, Minn.
She was born June 14, 1931, to Herbert and Anita Rhodes in La Crosse, Wis., the fourth of six children. She was baptized and confirmed in the West Salem Presbyterian Church. In 1949, Joyce graduated from West Salem High School, where she played in the band. She graduated from nurses' training in Minneapolis, Minn., and when "her" Walter returned from Korea they were married on Oct. 17, 1953.
Due to his employment, they made their home in many different locations and states. Throughout the years, beside family and work, she enjoyed oil painting, playing the drum, playing softball, sewing quilts, reading and working puzzles. After returning to Rushford to care for Walter's mother, Walter and Joyce joined the Lutheran church.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Walter Lee; daughter, Wanda Renee Lee, Weyauwega, Wis.; sons, Walter Scott and James Lynn, both of Farmer City, and Jay Anthony (Kelly), Lewiston, Minn.; granddaughter, Jordan Marie Lee, Chaska, Minn.; sister, Sharon Wesenberg, Puyallup, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Irene Rhodes, Onalaska, Wis., and Jan Rhodes, Salt Lake City, Utah; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Joyce was preceded in death by an infant son, Walter William; her parents; brothers, Gene and Herbert; brother-in law, Bernard Wesenberg; and sisters, Carol Grace (Ken) Filner and Ruby Helen (Dr. Martin) Smith.
Joyce will be cremated and interred at a later date.
