Julie E. Steinkoenig, 41, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:08 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 2, 2018) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
A celebration of Julie’s life will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Julie E. Steinkoenig Revocable Trust for benefit of Julie’s children or the Community Cancer Center, 407 E. Vernon Ave., Normal, IL 61761.
She was born March 26, 1977, in Normal, a daughter of Joseph V. Freehill and Nancy K. Nelson. She married Michael Steinkoenig on May 25, 2008, in Bloomington.
Surviving are her husband, Mike, Bloomington; three daughters, Rayven Brady, Corinne Hurt and Lauren Hurt, all of Bloomington; a stepdaughter, Zoë Steinkoenig, Bloomington; her mother, Nancy Nelson, Bloomington; her father and stepmother, Joe and Linda Freehill, Bloomington; and two sisters, Lynne Freehill, Charleston, S.C., and Kelly Mangina, Bloomington. Also surviving are Shannon Hurt, father of Corinne and Lauren, and Jayson Brady, father of Rayven.
Julie was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1995. She was very passionate about her continuing education, earning a bachelor of science degree in sociology with a minor in history in 2007 and a master of science degree in college student personnel administration in 2013, both from Illinois State University.
More than anything, Julie was a most devout mother. She brought constant acceptance, encouragement, love, and pride into the lives of her daughters.
