Lois G. Gerdes, 89, of Roanoke, passed away at 3:18 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 13, 2018) at the Apostolic Christian Home, Roanoke.
Her funeral will be at noon Sunday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Benson, with the Rev. Daniel Tuhy officiating. Burial will follow at Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson. At Lois' request there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the church.
Lois was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Benson, the daughter of Peter Arthur and Elizabeth Taatja Johnson Gerdes.
Surviving are a brother, James Gerdes, Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Gerdes, Minonk; Dorothy and Donna Gerdes, both of Benson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ernest, Albert, Frank, Chester, Eldon “Zeke” and Arthur “A.J.”; and two sisters, Vida and Helen.
Lois was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson where she was church treasurer for many years. She worked in accounting at Roanoke Motors for over 35 years. She was a private person who enjoyed spending time with her family.
