BLOOMINGTON — Mary Donna Vail, 92, of Bloomington, died at 8:46 a.m. Monday (Aug. 12, 2019) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral, also at the funeral home in Fairbury. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Lupus Foundation of America.
She was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Germanville Township, Chatsworth, the daughter of Leslie and Clara Brown Schade. She married Melvin O. Vail on June 8, 1957, in Joliet. Her husband, Melvin, preceded her in death on June 7, 1972.

Her parents; two brothers, Leslie “Buck” Schade and Warren Schade; and one sister, Joann Schade, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Allan Deanne (Susan) Vail, Nibley, Utah; two daughters, Vicki (Doug) Maurer, Bloomington; Tami (David) Koch, Heyworth; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Donna was a graduate of Chatsworth High School and later attended Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. Her compassionate heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
