Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Phillips of Bloomington passed away Sunday (Dec. 2, 2018) at home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Washington, D.C., to the Rev. Lyman and Louise Richardson, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Alan G. Phillips Sr., Bloomington; her brother, Lyman “Bill” (Polly) Richardson; her children, Francess (Tim) Harris, Dr. Alan G. (Ronna) Phillips Jr. and Dr. Richard L. (Karrah) Phillips; and grandchildren, Seth and Noah Harris, and Kamden, Kyleigh, Kaeson and Koralyn Phillips.
Mary Beth graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo., in 1967, with a B.A. in religious education. She worked in higher education for many years, which included 27 years in the business office of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
She will be remembered as a fine Christian who embodied loving encouragement and support to all of her family, friends and acquaintances. Her loss is truly immeasurable, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 2000 E. College Ave., Normal, with the Rev. Larry Gaylord officiating.
