Nathaniel Alexander "Nate" Pena, 22, of Bloomington, passed away Monday (June 18, 2018) in Bloomington.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church, Normal, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a memorial fund for Nate's children, Neako and Kashton Pena, c/o CEFCU, P.O. Box 1715, Peoria, IL 61656-1715.
He was born Dec. 3, 1995, in Normal, son of Meshach Pena and Stacy Sweeney.
Surviving are his parents, Stacy Sweeney, Normal; and Meshach (Holly Payne-Moore) Pena, Bloomington; his two sons, Neako Alexander Pena and Kashton N. Pena, both of Bloomington; two sisters, Gabrielle Sweeney, Jackson, Tenn.; and his twin sister, Natalie Pena, Normal; one niece, Emma; and three nephews, Hayden, Jaxon and Michael. Also surviving are his maternal grandparents, Larry and Pat Sweeney, and paternal grandparents, Jesse and Bertha Pena, all of Bloomington; paternal great-grandmother, Gilberta Martinez, Bloomington; paternal great-grandfather, Jesus Pena, Texas; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his companion, Brianna Watkins, Bloomington; and the mother of his children, Turquoise Hawkins, Normal.
He attended Chiddix Junior High School, Normal, and Bloomington High School.
Nate was a full-time dad and a very proud father; his boys were his everything. He also enjoyed collecting shoes and hats.
He will be fondly remembered for his contagious smile, his unforgettable dimples and his big heart.
