LEXINGTON — Robert E. Grimsley, 86, of Lexington, died peacefully at 11 a.m. at his home on Sunday (April 14, 2019).
Bob was born June 27, 1932, to B.M. and L. Bernadine Malcom Grimsley. He was raised by his mother and her husband, Jim Hartman, and two sets of loving grandparents.
He married Donna Jean Neal on June 15, 1952. She died on May 4, 1978.
He later married Eva Ann Beasley on Oct. 25, 2018. She survives.
Bob is survived by two sons, James (Vickie), Bloomington; and Jon (Cindy), Lexington; a brother, Richard (Donita), Lexington; two sisters, Linda (Fred) Heintzman, Lexington; and Patti Kemp, Florida; two grandsons, Will (Nicole) and Matt (Hayley); a granddaughter, Dawn, three great-grandchildren, Taner, Brianna and Oaklee; and an aunt, Marge Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepfather James A. Hartman.
Mr. Grimsley was a farmer all of his life and worked at the Lexington Cargill plant part time for several years. He enjoyed watching NHRA and NASCAR and loved working on cars and drag racing with his son, Jim, in his younger years. He loved to square dance with the Merry Mixers and numerous other clubs, enjoyed camping with his family and always had a story to share.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home, Lexington. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Burl Cole officiating at the Memorial Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lexington.
