PONTIAC — Robert L. Faust, 80, of Pontiac, passed away at 10:38 p.m. Sunday (May 12, 2019) at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at South Side Cemetery Mausoleum, Pontiac. A graveside service will follow visitation at the cemetery with the Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Full military rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is handling arrangements for the family.
Robert was born July 4, 1938, in Rooks Creek, a son of Arthur and Anna Mae Eben Faust. He married Donna R. Duvall on June 28, 1975, in Pontiac. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Theresa (Luis) Diaz, Pontiac, and William (Pam) Raber, Joliet; his grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Vernia, Josh Gernentz (Amanda Schott), JD Gernentz (fiancee, Maryssa McCoy), Bobby Raber, Jacque Arduini and Jason Arduini; his great-grandchildren, Caitlynn Vernia, David Gualandi, Jeffery Hamilton and Ezrae Gernentz; and his stepbrothers were Larry, David, Jeff and Jimmy Hamilton, and Bob Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pat Lee; and two daughters, Cheryl Gaydos and June Arduini.
Following high school, he served his country in the United States Army and then the Illinois National Guard, retiring after 39 years, 11 months and 7 days, achieving the rank of master sergeant. He also worked for Johnson Press and the city of Pontiac.
Robert was a member of the Pontiac American Legion, the Moose, Pontiac Elks and AmVets. He enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking, gardening and camping with family and friends.
He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend who will be greatly missed.
