BLOOMINGTON — Thomas J. Dirks, 95, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday (Aug. 9, 2019) at Manor Court, Clinton.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 801 S. Madison St., Bloomington. Pastor Billy Newell will be officiating. Burial will be Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to the Thomas J. Dirks Memorial Fund.
Thomas was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Danvers, the son of Anton Daniel and Marie Thomas Dirks. He married Velma A. Rapp in Stanford. She passed away April 19, 1987.
Surviving are his three children, Alan Dirks, Bloomington; Clarice (Alan) Holderly, Arrowsmith; and Brian (Linda) Dirks, Ellsworth; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Marie Thompson, Colfax.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Selma Voorhees.
Thomas had been a lifetime farmer in the Danvers and Bloomington area.
