William R. Beadles, DDS, 88, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2018) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Illinois Wesleyan University or Lutheran Life Communities Foundation, all of Bloomington.
He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Normal, son of William Thomas and Leta Christina Richardson Beadles. He married Nell A. Alexander on Dec. 18, 1949, in Monticello. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2010.
Surviving are his son, W. David (Chris) Beadles, Colorado Springs, Colo.; his daughter, Margaret (Dan) Deffenbaugh, Plainfield; and four grandchildren, Maj. Matthew (Lily) Deffenbaugh, USMC, Jacksonville, N.C.; W. Michael (Jordan) Deffenbaugh, Riverview, Fla.; Chelsea Beadles and Aubrey Beadles, both of Denton, Texas. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Hunter, Bear, Ayden, Rogue, Landon, Kensington, Hailey, Braddock and Tirzah; and one sister, Martha Giacobassi, Muskegon, Mich.
Bill graduated from Bloomington High School and received his undergraduate from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1951. He furthered his education at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, graduating in 1955. After his schooling, Bill went into the U.S. Air Force where he practiced as a dentist and obtained the rank of captain. After his military service, Bill came back to Bloomington and started his dental practice, William R. Beadles, DDS, where he enjoyed working until his retirement in 1992.
He enjoyed his time outdoors, camping, weaving and woodworking, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
