Dec. 6, 1943: Former Bloomingtonian Adlai E. Stevenson, now a special assistant to the secretary of the Navy, is preparing to lead a mission to Italy and Sicily. The mission will study problems of supplies and rehabilitation. The entourage is supposed to leave this week.
50 years ago
Dec. 6, 1968: District 87 and Unit 5 have been fighting over four tracts of residential land that produce property tax revenue. Now a hearing board has awarded all four to District 87. Unit 5 had been protesting the rival district’s annexation of the tracts.

Dec. 6, 1993: Judge Dearborn approved petitions to place the question of forming a village in the Crestwicke area on the ballot. Proponents say having municipal boundaries would give them more say in their own destiny. The proposed village limits include several subdivisions.
