Nov. 8, 1918: Lake Erie & Western passenger trains will run on a new schedule, starting Sunday. Westbound trains leave for Peoria at 7 p.m. and 10:20 a.m. Eastbound trains for Lafayette, Ind., will depart at 8:05 a.m. and for Lima, Ohio, at 4:35 p.m.

Nov. 8, 1943: A fire burned the roof off ISNU’s Fell Hall, but a concrete attic floor likely saved the rest of the building. Navy students who live in Fell Hall fought the blaze until the fire department arrived. The state of Illinois will help the rebuilding efforts right away.
50 years ago
Nov. 8, 1968: The Bloomington Planning and Zoning Board has approved creation of the Broadmoor Subdivision. It will have 370 lots on 168 acres just east of Route 66 and south of Oakland Avenue. Some of the space will be reserved for a park, school, churches and shops.
25 years ago
Nov. 8, 1993: Bobby Brown of LeRoy is one of four national finalists for the FFA’s Home and Farmstead Improvement Award. He will interview in Kansas City as part of the competition. He had finished FFA to concentrate on his ISU studies when he learned he was a finalist.
