The last I heard Connect Transit was running a deficit of around $900,000 a month, which is paid for with taxpayer funds. That would be close to $11 million. Our McLean County Chamber of Commerce somehow sees Connect Transit as an appropriate large business finalist for their upcoming Business Excellence Awards. I'm not sure how the chamber defines what a successful business is, but, in my opinion, successful businesses don't run deficits and don't depend on taxpayer dollars.
If the chamber wants to include Connect Transit, they should be in the nonprofit category with the rest of the charities.
