As an outdoor enthusiast and member of the ISU Trap and Skeet Club, I want to encourage our U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, to support our national monuments. Each year, millions of Americans visit national monuments to hike, fish and hunt. Our local economies depend on this avenue to bring fellow outdoor and recreation champions to our community — especially from my generation.
National monuments safeguard our country's unique outdoors heritage and also serve as huge economic drivers. The American tax base relies on families making sufficient incomes, particularly in rural areas, where many of our monuments are found. As an avid outdoorsman, I have strong appreciation for preserving our landmarked heritage. That said, protecting our monuments isn't just fundamental to the American outdoors ethic, it's an important to our entire community's way of life.
A majority of Americans support national monuments and I ask Congressman Davis and his peers to do so as well.
