Normal City Council makes decisions that are important to the lives of town residents. We therefore need to vote for the best prepared and most thoughtful candidates.

Dave Shields, R.C. McBride, and Kathleen Lorenz have distinguished themselves among those on this year’s slate: they are consistently well informed, they listen to diverse perspectives, and they carefully consider complex issues.

Some other candidates, perhaps because they have not regularly attended council meetings, have shared incomplete or incorrect information about current town issues such as the Trail East development, the economic impact of TIF districts, or the public art mural.

I respect and applaud all council candidates for caring about what happens in the town, and I look forward to seeing them all serve our community in a variety of ways. This April 2, please join me in voting for the three candidates best prepared to serve on council.

Bob Broad, Normal
