Hi, I was reading the article on drug testing our students ("More high schools are drug testing. Does it work as a deterrent for students," Oct. 21). I feel that is a great idea. I have a 16-year-old daughter. However, I also feel that maybe parents need to spend more time talking to kids about their pasts. Especially parents that have a past where drugs ruined their past.
Or maybe schools need to bring in someone that has been incarcerated because of doing drugs . Sometimes drug tests don't really scare kids. Unfortunately kids use computers and smart phones and can figure out how to pass drug tests even when they are using.
