A variety of breast cancer-related events and services are happening in Central Illinois during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Events with information available at press time were:

Look Good...Feel Better

Where: OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac

What: For women cancer patients, cosmetologists teach how to cope with skin changes, hair loss and other appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment

Third Annual African-American Women Taking STEPS (Screening, Treatment and Education Program) Together

Where: The Chateau Hotel and Conference Center, Bloomington

What: Mammogram screenings by OSF; breakout sessions on breast self-exams, stress management, financial literacy and weight management; men's health topics by 100 Black Men of Central Illinois, including heart disease, diabetes, prostate cancer and dental health; and lunch panel discussion on how heart disease and stroke symptoms differ among women and men
