HOUSTON - Houston winger Matt Foy deflected Peter Olvecky's slap shot past Peoria goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu at the 11:52 mark of overtime to give the Aeros a 3-2 Game 2 victory over the Rivermen and a 2-0 series lead in the American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs late Saturday night.
Olvecky chased down the puck at the left face-off dot in Peoria's zone and unleashed an shot. Foy, who was jostling with a Rivermen defenseman at the top of the crease, nipped the puck as it went past Beckford-Tseu for the winner.
Peter Sejna scored both goals for the Rivermen, who host Game 3 tonight at Carver Arena in Peoria.
Erik Westrum gave Houston a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 13:09 mark of the second period before the Rivermen evened the game about two minutes later when Sejna converted a give-and-go play with center Jay McClement.
Houston reclaimed the lead on Bryan Lundbohm's tally two minutes into the third period. Sejna tied the game a second time with a rebound goal past Aeros goalie Josh Harding with less than six minutes left in regulation.
