CornBelters sign ex-Carthage catcher and infielder

NORMAL -- The Normal CornBelters have signed former Carthage College catcher Mike Hughes and infielder Jacob Lennox to its preseason roster.

Both players were scouted in the Arizona Winter League by Normal pitching coach Brooks Carey.

Hughes batted .429 in 35 Winter League at-bats. He hit .344 with 10 home runs and 56 RBIs as a senior at Carthage and threw out 13 of 29 runners attempting to steal.

Lennox is a product of Louisiana-Lafayette and batted .246 with nine RBIs in 57 Winter League at-bats.
