Try 1 month for $5

QUESTION: Do the Cardinals have a pretty good feel on whether they'll get to be a player for Yolbert Sanchez, the 21-year-old Cuban prospect? If they brought him in for a workout, they must have some feel that he may actually wait until July 2 to sign, right? Do you have any scouting knowledge on Sanchez?

GOOLD: They do not because they need to know when he intends to sign. As of right now, the marketplace isn't great for him to get a big offer from anyone other than Baltimore, really. Now, give it a few months, and the Cardinals and other teams will certainly be players at the higher figure that he'd covet. The Cardinals would make that play -- they just need him to wait, and the Mesa brothers did not.

Sanchez is considered an infielder that is close to ready for the majors. That's the scouting report on him. He's above-average in the middle infield, can handle the pace of the game, has a good arm, and the upside of his offense depends on who you ask at this point.
