DECATUR — Central Catholic High School's 18-point lead after the first quarter was all the team needed to put away Decatur St. Teresa 80-45 in a nonconference basketball game Saturday night.
The Saints (5-2) outrebounded the Bulldogs 41-14 and had four players score in double figures.
"Rebounding is something that has been constant over the last five games," said Saints coach Jeff Wulbrun. "Our defense created our offense for us tonight."
Central Catholic's Paul Kabbes led all scorers with 17 points. The senior also had eight rebounds and six steals.
Brandon Dunson added 15 points for the Saints. Senior Jason Safford ended with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Matt Pelton contributed 12 points and seven assists.
The Saints, who led 24-6 after the first quarter, forced 22 turnovers.
"Before the game Coach told us he wanted us to come out and play as hard as we could and keep increasing our intensity on defense," said Stafford.
No player scored more than six points for St. Teresa (0-4).
