GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - Mitch Atkins set a career high for strikeouts with 12 and earned his 12th win of the season Thursday night as the Peoria Chiefs downed the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 7-2, in Midwest League baseball action.
Atkins (12-3) struck out 12 and walked two over six innings, allowing four hits and one run. John Mueller pitched the final three innings to pick up his first save.
The Chiefs took control with a five-run third inning. The key hits in the rally were a two-run triple by Ryne Malone and a two-run home run by Alberto Garcia.
