Marco Carrillo tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings, the longest outing by a Chiefs starter this year, as Peoria blanked the Burlington Bees, 2-0, before a sellout crowd of 7,111 fans Saturday in Midwest League action at O'Brien Field in Peoria.
Carrillo allowed just three hits while striking out two and walking one. Jayson Ruhlman got the final two outs in the eighth and worked a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the season
The Chiefs got off to a quick start against Bees starter Everett Teaford in the first inning. Jonathon Mota doubled down the right field line, moved to third on a sacrifice by Nate Samson and scored on a single by Josh Lansford.
