All five Illinois Wesleyan men's golfers finished in the top-10 among individuals as the Titans won the 12-team Indiana Small College Championships that concluded on Sunday at the Donald Ross Course in French Lick, Ind.

IWU senior Ben Johnson finished in second-place with a two-day total of 141. Senior Drew Pershing tied for third with a three-over 143. Freshman Jimmy Morton bettered his opening round total by two strokes to finish tied for fifth at 144. Andrew Abel was alone in seventh at 145. Sophomore Rob Wuethrich ended in an eighth-place tie at 147.

The Titans had a two-day team score of 11-over 571 to easily outdistance Parkland College (587) for the meet title.


Redbirds take Boilermaker title: With the final round of the Purdue Boilermaker Invitational at West Lafayette, Ind., canceled on Sunday because of weather, the Illinois State men's golf team became just the third team in the 16-year history of the event to win the title in its inaugural appearance.

Completing two rounds on opening day, the Redbirds' 560 total gave them the tourney lead prior to Sunday's scheduled final round.

ISU's Trent Wallace, David Perkins and David Rauer tied for third among individuals with a two-round total of six-under 138.

ISU bettered host Purdue by one stroke for the title in a field that included No. 5 nationally-ranked Oklahoma.

Women's MVC tourney postponed: The opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference women's golf tournament at Valparaiso, Ind., was postponed because of weather on Sunday.

The tourney is set to resume on Monday at Sand Creek Country Club, a par-72, 6,084-yard course.

An automatic NCAA Regional berth awaits the tourney winner. ISU is picked to finish fifth.
