The Illinois State men's golf team shot rounds of 283 and 277 for a 560 total and a one-shot lead over host Purdue in the Boilermaker Invitational at West Lafayette, Ind., on Saturday.

Three Redbirds are among those tied for third at 138 heading into Sunday's final round including Trent Wallace, David Perkins and Davis Rauer. Wisconsin's Jordan Hahn leads at 135.

Also figuring into ISU's score were Joel Durnford (148) and Dan Anfield (153).

Redbird relays shine: The Redbird men’s and women’s track teams posted a pair of ISU all-time top-10 marks in the Tennessee Relays at Knoxville, Tenn.

The women's distance medley relay of Annie Moore, Ashleigh Wilson, Hattie Plumb and Grace Beattie ran third in 11:34.28, the No. 3 time in school history.

The men's distance medley relay of Kimathi Johnson, Cole Maguire, Nick Swartzendruber and Jack Anstey took fourth in 9:48.69, the fourth-best time in ISU history. Anstey anchored with a 4:01 mile. 

The men’s 1,600 relay of Maguire, Avery Lyons, Swartzendruber, and Brandon Gage was sixth (3:13.73). Also sixth Ryan Ashenbremer (16-6¾) in the pole vault, an event won by Tri-Valley graduate Adam Coulon of Indiana (17-6½).


Men's lacrosse wins: Rick Smith's seven goals and five assists led IWU (11-1, 3-0) to a 29-20 victory over visiting Elmhurst (7-5, 2-1). Willi Rossi added four goals and three assists for the Titans, who outshot their guest, 72-47.

Charles Hildestad chipped in three goals while Daniel Dickerson, Bailey Marth and Ty Collins had two apiece for IWU.

Women's lacrosse tops Carthage: The IWU women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 16-5 win over Carthage at Kenosha, Wis.

Riley Rooney netted five goals for the Titans (11-2, 3-0 CCIW) and Grainne Kelly added three. Sam Bidlak contributed two goals and four assists.

IWU outshot Carthage, 34-20. Titan goalkeeper Janaye Godfrey had 11 saves. Carthage fell to 4-7 and 1-2.

Men's golf leading: Four Titans are among the low 11 scorers as IWU has a five-shot lead after the first day of the 12-team Indiana Small College Championships at French Lick, Ind. The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Sunday.

The Titans' seven-over 287 leads Parkland (292) in second. IWU's Ben Johnson and Andrew Abel are tied for second with a 1-over par 71. Rob Wuethrich is tied for fourth (72) and Jimmy Morton is tied for seventh (73).

Parkland's Kristian Kristensen leads with a 70.

Women 7th, men 8th in track: The IWU women scored 49 points to finish seventh in the 13-team Greenville Select Meet where the Titan men tallied 37 points in eighth.

Ayana Blair was the top Wesleyan placer, taking second in the discus at 128-5. Teammate Jenna Mirande was third in the 1,500 (4:57.22). For the men, Cole Paraday was third in the discus (137-2).
