Freshman Evy Makris contributed seven kills and Madi Corey dished out 26 assists, but the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team dropped a 25-20, 25-20, 25- 15 decision to No. 8-ranked Chicago on Wednesday at Shirk Center.

Amber Juarez, a University High graduate, added a team-high 13 digs for the Titans, who fell to 0-8. Bloomington High School product Grace Sanders had 11 digs.

The Titans return to action on Sept. 18 when they begin College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play against Carthage at Shirk Center.

DeMay earns CCIW honor: IWU junior Jenna DeMay was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Golfer of the Week. The Normal Community High School graduate finished tied for 20th at the Wartburg Invitational last weekend with rounds of 74-79, helping the Titans to sixth.

IWU hosts its Fall Classic Saturday and Sunday at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course.
