FISHERS, Ind. — The Illinois State swimming and diving team scored 662 points to top the six-team field at the Butler Invitational on Sunday at Fishers High School.
Marissa Yontz posted wins in both the 50-yard freestyle (24.56) and 100-yard freestyle (52.86) while also taking second in the 200-yard freestyle (52.86) to lead the Redbirds.
All-American diver Wenting Zhang had a solid performance on the boards,placing second in both the 1-meter (327.85) and 3-meter (332.35) events.
Next up for the Redbirds is a trip to Evansville for a dual meet against the Aces on Saturdat at 1 p.m.
Gymnasts fall: Sami King's win in the balance beam (9.775) was the lone victory for the Illinois State gymastics team in a 191.375-188.600 loss to University Illinois-Chicago on Sunday at the UIC Pavillion.
The Redbirds have an opportunity to avenge the loss when the Flames come to town on Saturday to participate in the Illinois vs. Michigan Class at 4 p.m. at Horton Field House.
