CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — The Illinois State women’s gymnastics team fell to Southeast Missouri State, 193.275-186.650, in a dual meet in Houck Field House on Sunday in the season opener for both teams.
Senior Samantha King hit all four events, scoring a 38.600 while placing third in the all-round. The three-time NCAA regional qualifier and defending Midwest Independent Conference champion on the balance beam competed to form, taking first place in the event with a score of 9.750.
Freshman Marie Priest was also impressive her first collegiate meet, posting the highest scores for the Redbirds on both the vault (9.550) and the floor exercise (9.700).
The Redbirds return to action Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m., when they take on Centenary in their first home meet inside Horton Field House.
