Redbird golfers in 2nd

The ISU women's golf team started the season Monday on a high note at the Fighting Camel Spring Classic in Buies Creek, N.C, finishing the day in second place at the 15-team tournament.

The Redbirds fired a first-round total of 315 and trail host school Campbell University by 15 strokes.

Tiffany Hockensmith led the Redbirds with a 74, tying for fifth. Britt Knutson tied for 15th with a 79, and Hilary Anderson had an 80 to tie for 21st. Stacey Miller tied for 38th with an 82. Marci Hill shot 86 and tied for 63rd.

Fellow Valley member Wichita State is third (317).
