OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Shelby Fulk homered and drove in three runs to support the stellar pitching of Ally Wiegand as the Illinois Wesleyan softball team opened the NCAA Division III National Championship with a 5-1 win over Rowan on Thursday.

The Titans advanced to 37-11-1 and face Texas-Tyler on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Wiegand (18-4) struck out seven and walked one while allowing just four hits.

IWU broke on top in the first inning as Jillian Runyon singled, stole second and scored on a Fulk single to left-center field.

The Titans extended their lead to 3-0 in the third. Sam Berghoff singled and was sacrificed to second by Fulk. Maggie Graham's single drove in Berghoff. After a walk to Kara Bischoff, Delaney Olinger's single up the middle chased home Graham.
