CHICAGO — Tyler Brown recorded 12 kills while Leah Seielstad contributed 18 assists as third-seeded Illinois Wesleyan earned a 25-14, 25-17, 25-19 victory over No. 6 Cal Lutheran on Friday in an NCAA Division III University of Chicago Volleyball Regional first-round match at Ratner Center.
IWU improved to 26-5 with its 21st straight win and meets second-seeded Washington (Mo.) in a semifinal match at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Washington defeated No. 7 Cornell, 25-13, 26-24, 25-14, in a first-round match.
Washington edged IWU in a five-set match on Sept. 5 at Shirk Center.
Rachel Burkman added eight kills while Bev Ryan had seven as IWU registered a .319 hitting percentage against Cal Lutheran (18-12).
Madi Corey also had 15 assists for the Titans. Amber Juarez led IWU with 15 digs, with Brown and Burkman getting nine each.
