BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Extreme has gained, or rather regained, another weapon in its defensive arsenal as linebacker Winston Taylor, last season's leading tackler, has re-signed with the team. | Game preview
Taylor, who had 65 solo tackles and 82 assists in 14 games last season, is expected to play Saturday when the Extreme meets Rock River in an Eastern Conference contest at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. He will wear No. 49 for the Extreme.
"I felt he was as good a linebacker as there was in the league by the end of last season," said Extreme coach Ted Schmitz of the former University of Illinois standout. "We have been playing Dorian (Pitts) at linebacker and he's really a free safety. Winston gives us more size at linebacker and allows us to move Dorian back to his natural position."
Pitts will miss this week's game because of a family commitment in Texas, but the Extreme regains the services of former Illinois State defensive back James Temple, who missed the last two weeks attending higher-level pro-fessional combine workouts.
Tickets remain available for the game.
